One of my proudest moments was listening to my big sister sing this song at a Preston Lodge School Concert- honestly, Margaret. It has always been a song that I love but needless to say I can't sing it(well only if I'm on my own!!) brilliant- ah-he-he a- who -oh.....I'll sing it in bed tonight!! Love Morag
Well I`m too young to remember Margaret singing at school but the Corries sure do remind me of my young days and my dad singing along when playing the LPs. Maybe you`ll find some Montivani as I remeber dad listening to him as well as a few others. (Black & White Minstrels, The Dubliners) Cheers x (PS April not March me recalls, maybe its just your typing)
This would be my favourite Corries track. I remember the night - not too clearly - when we booked them at The Labour Club. I'm sure they did an impromptu set upstairs before doing the gig downstairs. I'm still on the mailing list too! BUT - I can't remember my wee sister singing this tune!
And Maddy, just back, calls it "a draw", financially speaking, at Trentham today!
'T was such a little, little boat That toddled down the bay! 'T was such a gallant, gallant sea That beckoned it away! ’T was such a greedy, greedy wave That licked it from the coast; Nor ever guessed the stately sails My little craft was lost!
